Coram's Fields is run by an independent charitable Trust, on the principle that the land will forever stay in trust as an area for recreation and education of children. In July 2006 Coram's Fields will celebrate its 70th anniversary. Although we can celebrate 70 years, the long term future of the playground is under threat. Whilst we receive an annual grant each year from Camden Council and have received Heritage Lottery Fund money, we have to raise over £350,000 each year ourselves. As you can see when you visit the site, we have a constant need for funds to renew and update our historic buildings.
Individuals
We really hope you enjoy your experience at Coram's Fields and do tell your friends about us. We invite you to make a donation, however small (cheques payable to Coram's Fields) and to consider becoming a "Friend of Coram's Fields" to make a donation and become part of saving this invaluable resource for children in London. Cheques can be made out to "Coram's Fields" and sent to the address above or dropped in at the office. If you would like to give on a regular basis please contact us for a standing order form. We would be very grateful if you could indicate if we could claim Gift Aid on any donation, to increase our fundraising.
The friends of Coram's Fields are raising much needed money for the pets corner. Please join us to help raise money and to keep up to date with news of Coram's Fields.

History
Described as a green oasis in the heart of the city, the playground occupies the site of the original Foundling Hospital established by Captain Thomas Coram in 1739.
When, in the 1920's the hospital was relocated outside London, the land was sold to a developer who demolished the hospital building itself leaving only the single storey colonnaded Georgian buildings. Following a campaign and lengthy fundraising by local people the land was turned into London's first public children's playground.
It was opened under its new name "Coram's Fields" in 1936. Since then it has continued to flourish, often in very difficult circumstances, to become the jewel it is today. Coram's Fields continues to celebrate diversity and to promote a safe yet stimulating environment for London's children to enjoy.
